Pastor Richie Furay
Hi, I'm Richie Furay, pastor of Calvary Chapel in Broomfield
and I'd like to introduce you to our ministry.
We know Broomfield has many fine churches and we're excited to be a part of the growing number, that have been led to serve and minister to the spiritual needs of this community!
We moved here from Boulder in November of 2002 and have settled in the lower building of the Miramonte Lodge property located at 1200 Miramonte Street!
Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational Christian church with a contemporary style worship-service. Our Bible Study teaching follows a book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse method that we believe is the best way to teach, and learn the Bible. We believe the Bible is the Living Word of God and that it's relevant for us today; therefore, there must be practical application for us to live our lives as we seek to glorify God in our daily living!
The musical part of our worship service is also contemporary. We write many of the songs we sing in our service. The congregation is the choir, so everyone participates as we sing praises of worship to our Lord Jesus Christ together.
The basic tenet of our faith centers on Jesus Christ whom we believe is the Savior of the world. We believe that all men are in need of a Savior because, as the Bible says in Romans 3:23: "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God".
The Bible also says in Romans 6:23: "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ" and we're humbled to have the opportunity to share this message of hope for mankind.
I've been pastoring at Calvary Chapel since 1983 when we began as a home Bible Study outreach ministry of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, CA founded in 1965 by Pastor Chuck Smith, host and teacher of The Word For Today radio ministry.
My background, and road to the ministry and God's calling upon my life, is unique and different than most – although everyone who has come to saving faith in Christ has a unique testimony.
I was the member of two nationally recognized rock and roll bands – the Buffalo Springfield, with whom I was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, and Poco, one of the pioneer groups of the country rock sound of the 70's!
The Lord caught up with me as I was seeking to reach the highest level of rock & roll stardom. He used my marriage to get my attention.
Seven years into our marriage, Nancy and I separated for seven months. During this time the direction of my life changed forever. Choosing to salvage my marriage, the Lord brought me to my knees and we were both saved – born again in 1974! Nancy and I have been married for 40 years now; we have four grown daughters, three of whom are married and we've been blessed with six grandchildren. Needless to say, our extended family at Calvary Chapel only adds to the blessings of our life. Yes, God has touched our lives in a wonderful way.
Music is still a big part of my life and our church's ministry. I have found Psalm 37:4 to be so true: "delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart"; I'm able to use this gift in ministry as well as the gift of teaching as I serve as pastor of Calvary Chapel. We would love to have you come and join us in worship, and "taste and see that Lord, He is good".
Thank you for visiting our website, and we hope to see you at one of our services!
Please, introduce yourself to us when you come – we're here to serve you!
Jesus loves you,
